At Farm-Wey Produce, Inc. we hold food safety in the highest regard. We have developed programs of Good Agricultural Practice (GAP) for all of our growers, and they are required to have third-party audits with Primus Labs (or comparable auditor) annually to ensure their adherence to these food safety programs. These audits include the ranch, the packing house, and the harvest crew and are extensive. Farm-Wey Produce strives to be a leader in this field by going above and beyond what is required.
All Farm-Wey farms are on track with the Produce Traceability Initiative.
This initiative, which requires a standardized electronically readable label on each case, helps to ensure a safe, quality product for the consumer. With an industry wide completion date of 2012, a case of produce will be able to be tracked electronically back to the field it was picked and forward to the store where it ends up.
